Peter Blood, with experience as a soldier and sailor, and doctor in Bridgewater, England, was wrongfully condemned to slavery in the Caribbean in 1688, following a rebellion led by the Duke of Monmouth.

He works in Colonel Bishop’s sugar cane plantation and falls in love with the Colonel’s niece, Arabella. Then, he is employed by Bishop as a doctor.

When the colony is attacked by a Spanish force, Blood and some of the other slaves manage to escape and take control of the Spanish ship. This group transforms the Spanish ship into a very capable pirate ship.
